He Ignores Me Now After We Hooked Up

Dear Guys,

I recently hooked with a guy who I’ve been traveling with as part of a big group. I’ve had a crush on him for a while and started to properly like him as we got closer as friends. The only issue was he’d been hooking up with this other girl from the same hostel who we shared a room with.

Anyway on our last night, after this other had left, after one too many vodkas, we hooked up. Everything was fine and the next day we were chatting like normal, but then in the afternoon he just started ignoring me and didn’t even say bye when he left the hostel, even though he’d said a proper good bye to all our friends. I ended up messaging him just to say good luck traveling, as I didnt want it to be left in a bad way and he replied and I thought everything was okay.

But then we met again by chance in the same hostel and I was still with the same group. And he ignored me, again. The only nice thing he said was ‘hi’ in passing. And the only other thing he said to me was that I needed to ‘**’ off and talk to my own mates. I was willing to be friendly with him but after this just feel annoyed and like he never really respected me as a friend to talk to me like that, regardless of us hooking up.

The strange thing is, he always made a point to rub by back/arm when ever he was near me, but other than that didnt interact.

I’m just confused as to why he is acting this way and feel silly for missing him. Should I forget about being his friend or make the effort if i see him again?

El

Dear El,

There’s no need to feel silly for missing him. You have feelings for him, which is probably why you hooked up with him in the first place.

However, we hate to say it, but he, on the other hand does not feel the same way. Yes, he rubbed your back, and spent a lot of time talking with you, but based on the way he’s acting now, it’s clear this was all an act to get you to hook up with him. You also need to consider his track record. Wasn’t he doing the same thing with another woman at the hostel?

We’re sorry. We know it doesn’t feel great. But the best thing you can do is try to move on and forget him. He’s definitely not worth it. You deserve someone who’s going to respect you.

Finally, try not to beat yourself up over this. These things happen quite often, especially when on vacation or traveling.

You take care of yourself.
